Totalkannada.com

Here is a store with a difference! TotalKannada.com is an exclusive store for Kannada Video, Audio, and Books.

The first of it’s kind, TotalKannada.com opened a store on Aug 2nd in Bangalore, to cater exclusively to Kannadigas. The store has a wide range of DVDs, VCDs, Audio CDs, Audio Cassettes, MP3s & Books of all kinds.

This is from a mail I received:

They have New & Old Movies, New & Old Film Songs, Film Hits, Film Stories, etc.

They have a huge collection of Kannada Folk Music, Light Music, Devotional Collections, Dramas, Yakshagana, Comedy Collections, Children Collections, Hari Kathe, Tulu Collections, Sanskrit/Classical Collections, Remix, Karaoke, Educational CDs, Television Serials, etc. And they update them regularly with newly released items.

Under Books Section, they have books by S.L.Byrappa, Poorna Chandra Tejaswi, Kuvempu, Karanth and other popular writers. Dramas by Kailasam, Karnad & others. Also Children’s Books, Recreational Books, Educational Books, Devotional Books, Proverbs, Vachanagalu, Dasa Padagalu, Shlokas, Tourism Books, Recipes, etc.

Apart from buying at this Store in Bangalore, one can also make use of their “Online Sales” within Bangalore by just calling them on Phone or Email or SMS them with the list of CDs/Books. They will deliver it within 1 day to your address in Bangalore.

They also undertake Online Orders out of Bangalore, and all over the world.

The store has also apparently decided to donate 3% of the profits from their Bangalore Stores for the benefit of Rural Schools in Karnataka. Good move, huh? [Info courtesy Rashmi].

And by the way, this shop is just 5 minutes from my home, and just below a fabulous Bengali Sweet Shop called “Mishti”. So you now have another reason to visit the place :)

That’s nice. I havent seen it yet due to some access issue, but I hope they have a good collection. Then I don’t need to head to Ankita Pustaka when I want to buy Kannada books.

I am a customer of TotalKannada.com online store for a while.
TotalKannada.com is the ONE and ONLY site which asks for the payment after you receive the items and satisfied with the quality. I dont know whether they will retain the (or at least compatible) policy for Jayanagar store. ;o) ;o)
I also noticed that they have “animated VCD”. I am going to buy some for my kid today.

  15. Shruthi (unregistered) on August 7th, 2006 @ 6:35 pm

Thejesh, Ravi: That’s so cool! And I am also in line! ;)

Uunaashe: Hey I am glad you are a satisfied customer – they need more assurances from people like you. It translates to good publicity ;)

Also, to note is Udbhava.com – has a large and deep collection of old/new Kannada songs, devotionals, devaranaamas, harikathey, folk music, light music, and not to forget some “dialogues” of old Kannada Fillums!!

Good thing is you can listen to all of these online for Free!!

  17. Prashanth (unregistered) on August 9th, 2006 @ 11:37 am

Thanks for sharing the info, Shruthi. Me heading towards the shop this evening.

Hi, I just got to know about this site and happy to know that someone has brought out such good CDs & DVDs of kannada movies also have brought good books. What I would like to have apart from this is the online kannada songs to download & play something like raaga.com. If this is done it will be really great.

    Thanking you

    Sreenivasa.
