Human perversity at its worst

If on sunday India was witness to the best that humans are capable of with prayers and wishes pouring in for the safe recovery of the little boy caught 60 feet below ground in Kurukshetra, on monday it was the turn of Bangalore city to be the scene of panic caused by human perversity at its worst. There were hoax calls about bombs in 2 schools and one college in the city starting waves of panic and alarm. After the calls the police deployed canine squads to M.S.Ramaiah Dental College, Goodwill School and St.Anne’s Convent School and after a thorough search the calls mercifully turned out to be hoax.

How are these hoax callers any different from the terrorists – they do exactly the same without even a cause to claim and just “for fun”. Perhaps in this sense they are even worse than the terrorists. And what a waste of specialised resources! Do this miscreants even realise the immense damage possible by diverting so much of police resource while they may be needed genuinely elsewhere.

I hope the punsihment for these callers is really stringent and acts as a deterrent for anyone who may even dare to imagine that this is FUN. If only you could look at the face of the little uniformed kid at St.Anne’s breaking down during the panic – it is heart wrenching. It just breaks your heart to see that tender face freezing in fear and worry. What name do you have for someone who derives pleasure by putting the fear of death in the minds and faces of these tender souls?

The 21 year old guy who made the prank SMS about a bomb @ Garuda Mall was arrested. He says he is sorry about what he did and he did it for fun! If proven guitly, these pranksters stand facing a 2 year RI.

Why do they want to do it in first place? Does it makes them feel “cool”? Do they derive sadistic pleasure in doing this?

It would be interesting to study the backgrounds of these pranksters.

Usha, I would like nothing better to see than these offenders being given deterrent punishment. I only read about it today but certainly had it happened in my children’s school, I would have panicked! Unfortunately, our leaders do not like to institute them coz. you see, in many cases, it could prove to be their own worst enemy!
