Green thumb, everybody!!!!

Vijay Times reports that:

The Forest Division of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has now taken up a project to increase the green cover of the City. As part of the project, saplings would be planted and at the same time, road side trees that could harm the public would also be pruned.

I think the BMP is serious about it and wants to enlist citizen/NGO participation in this effort. Here’s proof of one pudding…er, hoarding:

All this hectic activity perhaps has been spurred by a recent report that green cover in namma Bengalooru has been mapped at just 7.67% of the total area!!

So, time to dispense with the prose for now; here’s a bit of poetry to spur you on:

Before the name ‘ garden city’ takes a hit
its time all of us went out and did our bit
lets work to increase the green cover
all we need is to plant mahogany, honge, champak or clover!

;)
