Hot as Hell

Its popular perception in Bangalore that if it experiences rains or showers, then a depression off the Madras coast is likely to be the cause. One does not know if this is based on any scientific evidence or is just granma’s tale.

For once, though, I wish that that misconception would hold good in Chennai and we’d experience some showers. Its oppressively hot & humid out here and a couple of days back, the city got a taste of the agni-natchtiram days coming up ahead – 41 degrees!

Why am I raising this issue now?

This report in Deccan Herald today says:

Sweating it out in the scorching hot sun? Don’t worry. The Meteorology department has predicted some rain showers over the next two to three days over Bangalore, south interior and central parts of the State.

Its just not fair. Why should Bangalore be so lucky? Why doesn’t someone sponsor a yagna or two here for rains? Should I hijack a plane and attempt some cloud-seeding, otherwise?

Is the heat getting to me?

:)

    Chennai I suppose.

But I have always seen in Bangalore. Whenever we have a hot day, sure to get showers next day. Lucky :)
