South End

Off late, Bangalore has become very warm. It’s really tough, when you are riding a two wheeler under the hot sun :(. But being the garden city, you find trees on most of the roads. Driving under the shadows is a welcome relief. But nothing like south end road in jayanagar, where the entire stretch is protected from the harsh sun.
This is one of my favorite roads in the city. Covered by lush green trees on both the sides, wide pavements and parks on either sides driving is a very pleasant experience. Almost for the entire stretch of around 2 km, you won’t find anything on the road. No shops, no roadside vendors. It’s really cool (In the literal sense as well). And the parks alongside the road are very beautiful too. I really envy the people who stay close to this road.
What is your favorite road in bangalore?

Oh my favorite road is the one from Victoria statue to the head post office shaded by trees from cubbon park and giving a nice view of cubbon park. The colour keeps changing at every time of the day and sunday mornings it is a pleasure to just take a walk down that place or if I am in a car, park it play my favorite music and if i have a flask of tea (which I usually plan and carry on sunday mornings at 8 a.m on my way to the alliance Francaise ), I sit there and drink it – if there is a Heaven on Earth, it is here, it is here…

Well, I do not really travel to South Bangalore that far often. But since I am mostly driving in the eastern part of the city, I love driving from Trinity Circle onwards till almost Domlur signal. It is after the Domlur signal that things turn worse. The above mentioned stretch is a driving paradise. Good smooth road and usually a degree cooler than ambient. There are not many trees on the road but the road is bordered by defence establishments that are usually blessed with lots of trees. On wintry mornings, you could easily see denser fog in the stretch near Command Hospital. I simply love driving in this stretch.
And in the dead of the night, I would include the road all the wall from Sankey Tank upto Trinity circle as my favorite. Sankey Tank – Sadashivanagar – Kaveri Circle – Windsor Manor – Golf Course – Infantry Road – Cubbon Road – Manipal Center – M G Road – Trinity Circle – Airport Road. That’s the one!

In my above comment, please read “the road all the *way* from Sankey Tank”. Sorry for the typo!

Yup, this is one of my fave roads too! I also like many such roads in Jayanagar, and love some of the roads in Malleshwaram, and I like Sankey Road, and the little bylanes in Palace Orchards.

The tree-lined road from CPRI Junction/Sadashivanagar Police station to MSR Hospital.
